This year I have resolved to quilt more. I recently read a quote from someone I admire that went something like “You can have five years of experience or one year of experience five times.” So true! So, this year I am going to try some new things and step out of my comfort zone a little more with my quilting. I have finished two quilts so far this year and I am loving every second of it. My other goal is to quilt through some of my growing piles of scraps! To that end, I am participating in a fun “Block of the Month” over at Quilt Doodle Designs. Here is a picture of the first block…..a Reindeer (Click on the photo to see it full-sized)! Cute, huh?!
I hope 2016 is off to a joyful start for all of you!
I snapped these pictures earlier today when I saw Amanda working on her current Quilt of Valor. She has recently joined the all volunteer QoV Foundation as a long-arm quilter. There are other quilters around the country that piece these works of art, and ship them to a long-arm quilter to quilt. These quilting treasures of American craftsmanship are made with love and then presented to our wounded American Heros.
Back in 2008 Amanda made her first QoV as her way of preparing for my first deployment. Amanda continues today because of a love for our country and the brave souls that sacrifice so much for us to live free.
